Wildfire mitigation and property cleanup in the Okanagan, British Columbia

Dry pine forest on an Okanagan hillside above the lake, with a rural home among spaced trees

Wildfire mitigation · Okanagan, BC

Protect what matters.
Start with your property.

Wildfire mitigation and property cleanup for Okanagan homes and acreages. We clear flammable vegetation, remove built-up debris and help reduce wildfire hazards around your home.

Services

Practical work.
A better-prepared property.

Most of what makes a property vulnerable is fuel: needles in the gutters, deadfall against the shed, brush crowding the treeline. We clear it, thin what is too dense and handle the debris within the agreed scope of your quote.

Our work is guided by FireSmart Canada's Home Ignition Zone principles. We are not certified by, endorsed by or affiliated with FireSmart Canada.

  • 01

    Debris and needle clearing

We remove pine needles, deadfall and combustible debris that collect against homes, decks, sheds and fences.

  • 02

    Pruning and ladder fuel removal

We prune lower branches and take out ladder fuels — low vegetation and branches that can help fire climb from the ground into tree crowns.

  • 03

    Thinning dense growth

We thin crowded shrubs and small trees, and space conifers, so fire has less continuous fuel to move through.

  • 04

    Brush clearing and vegetation management

Brush cutting and vegetation control along driveways, fence lines and around outbuildings.

  • 05

    Firewood relocation and cleanup

We move firewood stacks away from structures and tidy the yard debris the work creates, with hauling arranged within the agreed scope of your quote.

  • 06

    Ongoing maintenance

Vegetation grows back. Annual maintenance visits keep cleared areas from filling in again.

The Home Ignition Zone

Where the work happens

Distance from the house changes what needs doing. Select a zone to see what we focus on.

Immediate · 0–1.5 metres

The ground and surfaces touching your home.

  • Clear needles, leaves and debris from roofs, gutters, decks and against walls.
  • Keep this strip free of shrubs, bark mulch, stored firewood and anything that burns.
  • Wind-blown embers can ignite combustible material close to the home.

Quotes and assessments

An assessment covers:

  • Practical mitigation recommendations
  • An outline of the vegetation management work involved

Our approach

Three steps, start to finish.

  1. 1

    Tell us about your property

Call, text, email, or use the form to prepare an email. Describe the property and what concerns you.

  2. 2

Agree on the scope and quote

We review the property, walk through what should be done and confirm the work and price in writing.

  3. 3

    Complete the mitigation and cleanup

We do the clearing, pruning and thinning, then complete the agreed cleanup and debris handling included in your quote.

Mitigation work reduces wildfire hazards around a property. It cannot remove the risk, and we do not make guarantees about how a property will perform in a wildfire.
